Turkey provides spec ops training to Somali soldiers – Turkish Defense Ministry

As Middle East Monitor reports around 150 Somali army soldiers special forces train in Turkey under a military cooperation pact between the two countries, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

“We are providing Commando Basic Training to 150 guest military personnel from the Somali Armed Forces”

“The training, which began on December 21, 2020, has been continuing as planned.” said the statement.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Mogadishu Mehmet Yilmaz told Anadolu Agency that Turkey is on track to train some one-third of Somali military forces, totaling around 15,000-16,000 personnel.
