“In response to the relevant question, submitted by the Greek MP Mr. Kyriakos Velopoulos, on “Supply of French tanks as a replacement of obsolete tanks”, I state that the General Staff of the Army has planned to increase the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces based on its operational requirements and any solution that serves this planning, are examined and evaluated in detail, taking into account the existing capabilities and financial data,” said the Greek Defense Minister.

“Finally, (as Ministry of Defense) we state that new developments in the field of tanks are constantly being examined, but at least at the moment there is no need to acquire French tanks, either to replace the M48A5 MOLF – M60A3 tanks or to further strengthen the existing tank capacity,” Nikos Panagiotopoulos concluded in his statement.
