According to HELLENIC NATIONAL DEFENCE GENERAL STAFF (HNDGS), on Thursday, April 7, 2022, an Activation Exercise of Units of the Greek Armed Forces, which have been deployed in a state of readiness in the NATO Maritime Security Operation “SEA GUARDIAN” under the operational control of the Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM), was conducted.
In this context and under the coordination of the Special Operations Command and Control Element (SOCCE) of the Special Warfare Command of the General Staff, an exercise of boarding a non-cooperative vessel was carried out in the Myrtos Sea on the Greek Navy General Support Ship Atlas, which carried the suspicious cargo.
The boarding of the “suspicious ship” was conducted with the participation of the Roussen-class fast attack craft, which had an Underwater Demolition Command team (UDT) in its force.
In order to keep the Mediterranean region safe and stable, the Greek Armed Forces are always involved in NATO activities and operations.
