Russia may supply China and India with the latest S-500 air defence missile systems, said Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.
On November 1st, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the first production model of the S-500 is scheduled to be delivered to the Russian military soon.
“When this system is delivered to the Russian armed forces in the required volume, it will also be possible to supply it for export,” Dmitry Shugayev said in an interview with RBK. “We consider India, as well as China, and all the countries with which we have a long-term relationship as partners. They are the future owners of this new system.”
The S-500 Prometey, also known as 55R6M “Triumfator-M”, is a Russian surface-to-air missile/anti-ballistic missile system intended to replace the A-135 missile system currently in use, and enhance the S-400 air defence systems.
The Russian Defense Ministry reportedly stated that after completing the full test cycle, the first S-500 system was scheduled to be delivered to the Association of Air Defense and Missile Defense headquarters.
