Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron via a telephone conversation, a series of issues that may be relevant for Greece.
After they talked about the Ukrainian issue and especially about grain exports, they talked about the SAMP/T air defense system produced by EUROSAM, which is backed by France and Italy.
Regarding the “SAMP/T” air defense system, Erdogan said that Turkey aspires to start a joint development program with France and Italy, asking based on all that has been revealed, to transfer know-how for both the system and the ASTER-type missiles. -30 which it carries.
But here is a problem, the specific air defense system carries the same missiles, i.e. the ASTER-30, as the Greek frigates of the FDI HN type, also known as Belharra, do.
If the French were to give the OK for the transfer of this system to Turkey, and especially for the transfer of missile know-how to the Turks, there will be a huge problem in the capabilities of the Hellenic Navy, before the frigates even arrive.
