The capitals of the Afghan provinces continue to fall into the hands of the Taliban. As Taliban forces managed to take control of the capital of Paktika state. The Taliban imposed its grip on the city of Sharana, the capital of Paktika in eastern Afghanistan, becoming the 21st capital to fall into its hands.
According to what Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, confirmed, the militants have already entered the city of Sharana. He pointed out that they were able to control all the defenses of the government forces and enter the governor’s office and the police headquarters.
Analysts estimate that the Taliban’s control at least half of the capitals of the 34 Afghan provinces and more than two-thirds of the country.
