Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, stated that the West has been inciting anti-Russian acts in Ukraine for a long time.
“For a long time, not the first year, the West has been provoking Ukraine, and not only Ukraine, to anti-Russian actions,” the Russian minister told reporters. He added that the involvement of Russia and other post-Soviet countries in NATO is “the clearest example of this. Since the West is well aware of our stance on these efforts,” Lavrov explained.
“In the conditions when the Kyiv regime is frantically looking for some ways to divert attention from its inability to solve the economic and social problems of the population, to peacefully settle the conflict in Donbas in accordance with the Minsk agreements, the West gives it a hint and in every possible way encourages the instincts of the Kyiv authorities regarding the use of hostilities in the Donbas. This is happening from Washington, from other Western capitals, and from the NATO leadership,” Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Carlos Alberto Franco França.
“And we simply have no right to rule out the possibility that the Kyiv regime will break into a military adventure. All this creates a direct threat to the security of the Russian Federation.
President Putin spoke about this on November 18th at the council of our ministry, and he stressed that we do not need conflicts, but if the West cannot hold Ukraine, but, on the contrary, encourages it, of course, we will accept all the necessary steps to ensure our security,” said Lavrov.
