According to statements by the spokesman of the Cyprus Police, Christos Andreou, on the Cyprus state-run TV, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m., when a Boat of the Port Police located in the area of Pyrgos for patrol was approached by a Turkish coast guard.
A few minutes later the Turkish coast guard, following the boat, fired four warning shots towards the Cypriot boat. When the Cypriot Port Police boat arrived at a fishing lodge, the Turkish coast guard left the scene.
