The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a significant airstrike on Hezbollah’s central headquarters located in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut. Initial reports suggest that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah may have been the target of the attack, although his presence at the location remains unconfirmed at this time.
According to the IDF, Hezbollah’s command center was situated underneath residential buildings, placing civilian lives at risk. These buildings were destroyed in the strike. Footage from Lebanese media shows massive explosions, indicating that civilian casualties may have occurred, in addition to losses among Hezbollah personnel.
IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed the strike, stating that the Israeli Air Force had successfully targeted Hezbollah’s main headquarters. However, he did not clarify whether Nasrallah was believed to be at the scene during the operation.
Despite the high-profile nature of the attack, there has been no change in the safety guidelines issued to Israeli civilians by Israel’s Home Front Command. Authorities have assured the public that any updates will be promptly communicated through official platforms.
If confirmed, Nasrallah’s presence at the headquarters—and particularly if he were injured or killed—would leave Hezbollah in a leadership vacuum. However, Hezbollah sources claim that Nasrallah is safe and in good health. Unverified reports from Lebanese sources also suggest that Hashim Safi al-Din, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council and likely successor to Nasrallah, may have been killed in the strike.
