The US Navy successfully intercepted a large barrage of ballistic missiles, drones (UAVs), and cruise missiles launched by Houthi forces in the Red Sea. According to U.S. military officials speaking to CNN, the barrage targeted three U.S. warships passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical maritime route connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The Houthis described the attack as the “largest naval operation” in their ongoing campaign.
In total, the Yemeni rebels launched 23 ballistic missiles, drones, and cruise missiles against U.S. Navy ships. The vessels involved in the incident were the destroyers USS Spruance and USS Stockdale, along with the littoral combat ship USS Indianapolis.
Despite Houthi claims that their missiles struck the American ships, U.S. officials confirmed that all projectiles were either intercepted or missed their targets. No damage was reported to the warships, and there were no injuries among the crew.
