Arquus VLRA for Greece: The tactical truck offer and its limits

Arquus offered its VLRA tactical truck family to Greece as the Hellenic Army considered renewal of an ageing vehicle fleet. The proposal was presented around DEFEA 2023, but an offer must be distinguished from an order. The central requirement is dependable transport over difficult terrain, with spare parts and workshop support available across the force.

The VLRA offer

In its statement on Greece, Arquus said it was offering the VLRA tactical truck alongside its VBL work. The company noted that the VLRA had been displayed at DEFEA in 2021. Arquus describes the VLRA family as all-wheel-drive vehicles built around a military chassis, with configurations for personnel and cargo. Specifications depend on the variant and equipment selected.

What Greece would need to compare

A replacement for the Greek Army’s older Steyr trucks should be assessed on payload, off-road mobility, protected-cab options, recovery and towing, fuel use and maintenance cost. Standardisation matters: a large fleet needs common parts, technician training and a support network as much as a capable demonstration vehicle. Claims about local manufacture or the number of trucks Greece might purchase require a contract or official programme decision.

The VLRA is a credible industrial offer for tactical logistics. Whether it is the best choice for Greece depends on a defined requirement and competitive testing, particularly across mountain routes, island supply missions and sustained field operations.
