A High ranking Russian military official during an interview revealed that the Russian military base in Tajikistan will receive at the end of the year about 30 modernized T-72 tanks.
“By the end of the year, it is planned to receive 30 modernized T-72 BM3 tanks with their improved combat characteristics to replace the main battle tanks of previous versions,” the Russian colonel stated.
According to him, many modernised BMP combat vehicles already entered service with the latest portable anti-aircraft missile systems “Verba”, infantry jet flamethrowers with increased range and power, and anti-tank missile systems “Kornet”, sniper rifles and other logistical equipment for the base in Tajikistan
With this moves Russia tries to boost its presence on allied to her countries such is Tajikistan and continues the effort to modernise its old soviet military hardware that the Russian army mostly consists of.
