A Russian major general has been killed in a battle outside Kharkiv, Ukraine, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, chief of staff of the 41st Army, was killed along with other high ranking Russian officers, the Ukrainian side said, without the information being confirmed by Russia.
If confirmed, Gerasimov would be the second major general to be killed by Ukraine during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the first being Andrey Sukhovetsky, who was killed on 28 February.
