The Libyan army is intensifying its presence in the south to maintain security

The Sabha Security Directorate, southern Libya, is organizing the rapid support units of the Libyan army in order to enhance security inside the city.

The Libyan spokesman for the security operations room of the Sebha Security Directorate confirmed that the units of the security services, with direct support from the Libyan National Army, were able to arrest most of the gangs in the city.

He added in a statement to “Al-Ain News” that criminals and outlaws are still active in the outskirts of the city and some streets that witness a densely populated tribal fabric, taking advantage of the cover provided by tribes to their sons.

Earlier, the Libyan army forces working to hunt down terrorist groups in the south reached the city of Murzuq, near the Chadian border. The Libyan army declared the sandy area between the city of Al-Shati and Sabha in the south of the country a prohibited area of military operations for citizens.

The Libyan south has been suffering for years from the spread of armed groups and terrorists, so mercenary forces, as well as the so-called “Southern Protection Force” led by Ali Kanna, which was formed by the Sarraj government, have been active on its soil, and committed “crimes” against civilians in Murzuq, in addition to the activity of ISIS cells.

The city of Sebha is the largest city in southern Libya. It was previously the capital of the Fezzan region in the southeast of the country & It is about 750 km away from the city of Tripoli.
