The Turkish military tested the Atmaca long-range missile in the Black Sea on Thursday, according to the Turkish state channel TRT.

The rocket, produced by Roketsan, has a range of more than 200 kilometers. The test took place in the Sinope area of the Black Sea, about 600 km east of Istanbul.

The home-made missile will frighten Turkey’s enemies, Turkish Navy Commander Admiral Adnan Ozbal said after monitoring the test firing.

The rocket successfully destroyed a target when it was fired from a Turkish navy corvette, Ismail Demir, president of the Turkish defense industry, said on Twitter.

Roketsan has stated that the Atmaca is a surface-to-surface, long-range and precision missile that can be integrated into patrol boats, frigates and corvettes. According to TRT, he is expected to replace the American Harpoon.
