Azerbaijan intends to buy “Hürkuş” amid tensions with Armenia

The thermometer between Armenia and Azerbaijan is rising again as the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his statements demanded Armenia to accept the demands of Azerbaijan for the construction of the “Zangezur corridor”.

According to Azerbaijani media, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev asked Armenia to accept the terms of Azerbaijan and to announce a specific date for the opening of the so-called “Zangezur corridor”. The President of Azerbaijan also accused Armenia of obstructing the opening of roads and communications.

Azerbaijan has also supplied its forces at the border with Armenia, with a new batch of Israeli “Harop” UAVs.

In addition, according to Turkish media, citing statements by the head of Turkey’s defence industry, Ismail Demir, Azerbaijan is interested in purchasing the Turkish Hürkuş (Hurkus) training and light attack aircraft.

According to a statement by the Turkish ambassador to Baku, Cahit Bağcı, Azerbaijan had already conducted flight tests of the aircraft a few days ago.
