The Greek Defense Minister, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, spoke about the upgrade of the F-16 Block 30 of the Hellenic Air Force, which at the moment have not been included in the F-16 Viper program and there were thoughts of selling them in another country.

Greek Defense Minister answered a relevant question, submitted by the MP Mr. Kyriakos Velopoulos, on “Delay in the modernization of the F-16 C/D Block 30s of the Hellenic Air Force at Block 50M»
“The Greek Armed Forces Structure 2020 – 2034, is clearly defined and approved by Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA), which determines the operational requirements for modern fighter jets.

In the above context, all possible options are considered to find any suitable solution, in order to further upgrade the operational capabilities of the Hellenic Air Force.

Finally, I know that more information on the subject is not declassifiable through the present procedure, as it falls into the category of “CONFIDENTIAL”, because they relate to the national defense planning and the Structure of Forces of the Hellenic Armed Forces,” said the Greek Defense Minister in his response.
