Israel announced by its foreign ministry that will be joining Horizon Europe for 2021-2027 following the completion of an agreement set to be signed by the end of the year. Israel’s accession to Horizon Europe establishes Israel as a key player in the biggest and most important R&D programme in the world.
“Israel joining Horizon is yet another step in our policy of connections, bringing us closer not only to the European Union as a whole but also to each of the countries of Europe on a bilateral level as well.” Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid stated.
Furthermore, Yael Ravia-Zadok Yael Ravia-Zadok, the deputy director-general and head of the Economic Diplomacy Division at the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated:
“The completion of negotiations following a months-long political effort is a significant political and professional milestone. It represents an expression of confidence by Europe in Israel’s assets in science, technology and innovation.”
Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation that through collaboration strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies.
