According to what Adm. Mike Gilday, the Chief of US Naval Operations, said today, the United States Navy may be able to sell or donate the troubled Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ships that it intends to decommission to other nations.

In his testimony before the defense subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Gilday urged to investigate the potential of moving the ships to countries in South America so that the LCS may participate in anti-drug operations

“Now, in terms of what are the options going forward with these ships, I would offer to the subcommittee that we should consider offering these ships to other countries that would be able to use them effectively.

There are countries in the southern, in South America, as an example as you pointed out, that would be able to use these ships that have small crews. And so instead of just considering scrapping as the single option, I think there are others that we can look at, sir,” US Navy Adm. Mike Gilday stated.

We remind you that we have already informed about the United States Navy decision to decommission these relative new ships of the US Navy as there is a huge problem with the propulsion system that affects every single ship in this class making in a disaster for the US Navy.
