According to US officials who spoke to US media, Putin has changed his strategy and focused on attempting to seize control of eastern Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be desperate according to many analysts and wants to achieve even a minor victory.

Even after more than a month of heavy battles, Russian ground forces have been unable to maintain control of most of the regions which they occupied.
