Russian admission about the strike on the port of Odessa: They had denied the information

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed today that Russia launched a missile attack on the port of Odessa.

The port is protected under the recent agreement reached in Istanbul on Friday to resume grain exports.

Russia has previously denied to Turkey any role in Saturday’s attack. The attack took place a day after Russia and Ukraine signed agreements that will allow Ukraine to move millions of tons of grain through the port of Odesa.

“The Russians told us that they had absolutely nothing to do with this attack and that they were investigating the matter very closely and in detail” Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said after the attack.

On her Telegram account, Maria Zakharova, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tweeted the following message:

“With a high-precision strike, Kalibr missiles destroyed military installations in the port of Odessa.”

The President of Ukraine, Zelensky made the following statement:

“Today’s Russian missile attack on Odessa, our port, is cynical and was also a blow to Russia’s own political views. If there is anyone left on the planet who believes that some kind of communication…with Russia, some kind of agreement is necessary, they should see what is happening right now. The very idea of such claims is no longer viable thanks to the Kalibr missiles currently in Russia’s possession.”

In a statement released late Saturday night, United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken condemned the attack.
