In preparation for a possible military action by Turkey against US-backed Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, Syrian forces have been mobilizing towards the country’s northern border with Turkey.
A Syrian army captain told Al Arabiya that his troops were stationed “east of the Euphrates and next to the Turkish border”.
After talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Tehran earlier this week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a military operation in Syria remains possible as long as Kurdish fighters pose a threat to Turkey’s security.

Erdogan made this statement in response to questions about whether or not an operation would take place and even asked for the support of Iran and Russia.
Assad’s forces appear to have an agreement with the SDF and YPG and are entering Kurdish border towns, raising Syrian flags to signal their presence.
