The cooperation between Greece and Israel is excellent, with the Hellenic Navy expanding its contacts with the Israeli Navy, which in recent years has been significantly strengthened against the background of the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Specifically, according to the announcement of the Hellenic Navy General Staff:
“From Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 July 2022, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, made an official visit to Israel at the invitation of his counterpart Vice-Admiral David Saar Salama.
On Tuesday, July 19, after the official reception of the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff at the Haifa Naval Base, talks took place between the Chiefs and relevant staff. Matters of mutual interest were discussed at length, the high level of cooperation between the two Navies was established, while initiatives and actions for its further promotion and expansion were examined.

Afterwards, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff visited and was guided to facilities, surface units and submarines of the Israeli Navy.
On Wednesday, July 20, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy went to Jerusalem, where he visited the Jerusalem Patriarchate. In the context of the visit he met with H.H.B. Patriarch of Jerusalem and all Palestine Theophilos III and with the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem Mr. Evangelos Vlioras. Then he went to the Holy Church of the Resurrection where he worshiped the Holy Sepulchre. During his stay in Jerusalem he visited and was guided to the “Yad VaShem” Museum where he laid a wreath paying tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.
Finally, the Head of the Hellenic Navy General Staff visited the Embassy of Greece in Israel, where he met with the Ambassador Mr. Kyriakos Loukakis” concludes the announcement.
