“Communist forces (China) hit the New Taipei City with rockets,” Taiwan’s CTS television channel reported by mistake on Wednesday morning.

The confusion attributed the channel to the wrong employees, when in fact the news referred to an exercise of readiness and not to a real attack by China.
“A warship exploded, facilities and ships were destroyed in the port of Taipei. There was an explosion at Banqiao station without any casualties,” the “breaking” news reported.

When citizens called the station to confirm whether China was indeed attacking, the channel admitted it had made a mistake. The CTS then reported through its program on the mistake, apologized, and urged Taiwanese citizens not to panic.
