US Extradites Colombian Paramilitary Member Under Multiple Crimes Against Humanity Charges

MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – Former Colombian paramilitary member Hernan Giraldo Serna has been extradited from the United States after serving 12 years in jail for drug trafficking to face over 40 arrest warrants at home for terrorism, torture, the sexual abuse of minors, abduction, and murder, Colombia’s migration authorities said on Tuesday.

Jordan condemns Israel over Dome of the Rock repairs

Jordan on Monday condemned Israel’s stopping renovation works at the Dome of the Rock mosque at Al-Aqsa compound in East Jerusalem, Anadolu reports. On Sunday, Israeli police moved into the complex and prevented workers from the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf from carrying out renovation works at the mosque. In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry rejected the Israeli action, saying the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf “is the sole authority responsible for taking care and overseeing the compound”. The Waqf is a Jordanian-run organization responsible for overseeing Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community. […]

Turkish Airlines temporarily suspends Israel flights

Flag carrier Turkish Airlines has temporarily suspended all flights to Israel, the airline announced on Monday, Anadolu reports. Under the suspension, there are no Turkish Airlines flights to or from Israel for the period Jan. 26 to Jan. 31, said the company on Twitter. By way of explanation, the airline said the move was in line with a decision by “related authorities,” but gave no further details.
