The Greek Defense Minister, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, participated in the economic forum of Delphi, where he spoke about the future armament programs of the Hellenic army land forces.

In his conversation with the journalist Stavros Ioannidis, among other things, the minister said:

“And there is something else, which I think is the time to take place, some armament programs that have to do with the needs of the Army, which may rightly feel marginalized, but this will continue for a long time.

We have in mind two or three big armament programs, always according to the needs that will be determined by the General Staff, in order to cover the lost ground of many years.

Starting with something that has already been known, is the modernization and upgrade of our Mechanized Forces or part of it, depending on our financial capabilities, which is connected if you want with the new armored vehicle which at the moment, we are working on a solution with the General Staffs and with which, we will obviously come to an agreement with companies in the German defense industry, which are also the suppliers of the systems used so far and we are their largest customers in Europe.

So I think this is the time to come to a final agreement” Nikos Panagiotopoulos said during his interview.
