Iran preparing its air defence over tensions

Iran

Ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program have prompted the country to carry out an air defence exercise over its Boushehr nuclear power plant in the southwest.

Iran’s state media reported that the exercise took place in the early hours of Monday morning in the south of Boushehr province and in parts of the Persian Gulf.

The exercise took place a few days after the talks about the nuclears in Vienna, which ended without an agreement.

The revival of the 2015 deal was rejected by Israel, which continues to threaten immediate military intervention against Iran’s nuclear facilities in response.

An Iranian security source told the News website Nournews that security forces believe there is a high probability that Israel will attack in an attempt to thwart the Vienna talks.

The commander of Iran‘s Khatam al-Anbiya military camp, Gholamali Rashid, referred to the Vienna negotiations on Monday and said that any Israeli attack would not be possible without the consent of the US.

The commander also said that if Israel proceeds with an attack, the Islamic Republic of Iran would also attack back.
