Naval Group is constantly moving forward aiming to take over the Hellenic Navy’s new corvette program. Naval Group is trying to achieve this through its increasing cooperation with Greek defence companies both for the corvettes, if selected, and for the FDI HN “KIMON” frigates that are already being built for the Hellenic Navy.
According to a recent announcement, “Naval Group welcomed representatives of 13 Greek companies to the Lorient shipyard, in coordination with the Hellenic Aerospace Security & Defense Industries (HASDIG).
The purpose of this visit was to identify new opportunities in Naval Group’s global Supply Chain for Greek companies beyond the discussions in the framework of the negotiations already underway.
It was also an opportunity to show the progress of the construction of the first FDI HN frigate “KIMON” and the progress of the second corvette Gowind for the UAE Navy.
Naval Group’s commitment was also highlighted by the signing of a group agreement with Hellenic Defence Systems (EAS), a member of the Hellenic Aerospace Security & Defence Association (Hellenic Aerospace Security & Defence)” Naval Group says, adding that the agreement is a first milestone for the implementation in Greece of a parts assembly line for the FDI HN frigates, including the Gowind HN corvettes, if selected by the Greek government.
