A recent announcement by the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands clarified that 2 F-35 fighter jets are ready to be deployed to Bulgaria.

As an additional contribution to NATO’s defence and deterrent capabilities against a Russian army concentration of around 100,000 troops that scares NATO members, the Netherlands is claiming that they are ready to boost regional military capabilities.

The two Netherlands RNLAF F-35 fighter jets and support personnel will be deployed to Bulgaria in order to begin participating in NATO Response Force (NRF) missions.

The Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands notes that more troops and an amphibious transport ship with its force are ready to be sent if needed.

“As NATO, we will not deny our ability to protect and defend each other, including the presence of troops in the eastern part of the alliance, “NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said in a statement in response to the Russian request that NATO forces leave Bulgaria and Romania.
