A NASA (SLS) rocket with the Orion spacecraft on top reached the 39B launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday in preparation for the final test flight before the Artemis I mission.

The mission of Artemis 1 (Artemis I) aims to return humans back to the Moon after decades.

This test, which will be conducted without the Orion crew, will lay the groundwork for the Artemis I mission that will land the first woman and the first black astronaut on the Moon as part of Project Artemis.

It took 10 hours and 28 minutes for the spacecraft to reach the launch pad, which was about 6 miles away.

Specifically, as NASA stated the rocket journey to the launch pad began at 5:47 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 and arrived at the launch pad at 4:15 p.m. on Friday 18 March.

The Project Artemis I launch team will test the propulsion loading operations on the rocket tanks, and perform a full countdown test for the launch.

This test will be the final one before launching to the moon.
