According to an announcement by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the departure ceremony of the PATRIOTs of the Hellenic Force of Saudi Arabia took place today at the Tanagra Air Base, in the presence of the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias, the Chief of General Staff General Constantinos Floros and the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force lieutenant general Georgios Blioumis.
The announcement of the General Staff mentions that:
“The formation of the Hellenic Force of Saudi Arabia and the deployment of a Directed Missile Artillery of the PATRIOT long-range anti-aircraft system to strengthen the air defense and missile defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is part of the implementation of the international initiative “Integrated Air and Missile Defense Concept” (IAMD Concept).”
The Chief of General Staff in his address stressed the historic importance of the mission, which aims to maintain peace and defend global security.
