Two Turkish soldiers, Fatih Guney and Emra Arslan, were killed in northern Syria on Saturday when they were attacked in an armored vehicle in which they were riding.
Two people were injured in the same attack.
According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the Turkish Armed Forces immediately retaliated against the attack.
“Our punitive fire against terrorist positions continues,” the Turkish General Staff said via Twitter.
According to the ministry, the attack took place in the area where Turkey had conducted Operation Euphrates Shield in 2016 to fight, as it states, Islamic State fighters and the Syrian Kurdish militia YPG.
