According to Andersson, these discussions will provide an opportunity to clear up what she referred to as “confusion” regarding Swedish support for various Kurdish groups.

At a press conference in Stockholm, Andersson stated, “Of course we are not sending money to terrorist organizations, nor are we sending any weapons.”

Turkey has made it clear that it does not support Sweden and Finland becoming members of the military alliance. As the reason for its opposition, Turkey cites its concerns regarding what it perceives to be support on the part of Sweden and Finland for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and other Kurdish organizations.
