Russia negotiate cooperation for the engine of Turkish TF-X

Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, stated in a Russian TV Channel that Russia is ready to help Turkey in the development of an engine for a fifth-generation national fighter that Ankara calls as TF-X.

“We are still at a stage of negotiations on this project,” Shugaev said for the TF-X and added…

“Turkey also has its own program for creating a fifth-generation fighter, the so-called TFX. As far as I know, there are difficulties with the development of the engine – we will help if they place an order,” said the Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, on Monday, on Rossiya 24 TV channel.

Meanwhile, according to Shugayev, Turkey may be interested in the Russian Su-35, as well as the Su-57 ” but at the same time, he noted that the supply of fifth-generation Sukhoi aircraft such as Su-57 and Su-75 is only for the Russian Air Force.

Turkish officials have stated multiple times the interest of Ankara in acquiring Russian Fighter jets as a replacement for their aging F-16 & F-4 fleet.

TUSAŞ which is in charge of the production of the national Turkish fighter jet said that TF-X will make its first flight in 2025, and in 2029 it is scheduled to be delivered to the country’s armed forces with many experts saying that this is not possible.
