NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to a post on his Twitter account.

The alliance leader said he had discussed with the Turkish president the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO and Turkey’s concerns about it. He even pointed out that talks should continue in order to find a solution and that all allies should be taken into account.

“Spoke with President Erdogan of our valued Ally Turkey on the importance of NATO’s Open Door and the membership applications by Finland & Sweden. We agree that the security concerns of all Allies must be taken into account and talks need to continue to find a solution” Stoltenberg wrote in the Twitter post.

We remind you that Turkey has clearly stated that he disagrees with the accession of the two countries to the North Atlantic Alliance and has accused them of supporting terrorism.

Last week, when Finland and Sweden said they would send diplomatic missions to Ankara to discuss Turkish concerns, Erdogan had said not to bother.
